Kobe VS Lebron, I’m sorry I just have to rant a bit.
Amazing players! Comparing them is usually unfair, uncalled for, and biased, but here I go anyways! – Keep in mind this is mostly for fun, only comment if it’s good natured and… on my side
But wait, Lebron hasn’t even won a Championship!
The scope of that statement goes far beyond a comparison of 2 athletes abilities. It’s like comparing 2 wider receivers and saying one is better because they haven’t won a Super Bowl yet.
While 1 player can have enormous influence on determining a Championship win, often there is way too much here to base a succinct comparison.![]()
Things like:
- Coaching staff, offensive, defensive etc..
- Play book efficiency
- Team mate ability
- Team mate cohesion and flow
- Schedule and competition
- Team and personal health
Bringing the whole “Championship debate” makes the entire question very “fuzzy.” Meaning hard to differentiate between individual abilities, and outside circumstances.
Don’t you think that’s fair?
Personally, I do think Kobe has a better team, Odom, Shannon Brown, Gasol, Artest, Bynum. – The team is strong and deep, as well as exciting to watch. Lebron now has Shaq, and Jamison. The Cav’s just don’t have a whole lot of other exciting players, but this is just an aside and other’s might think I am being harsh.
A ring doesn’t make a players value over another.
Mitch Richmond has a ring, is he then better than Lebron?
But wait, Kobe has a lot of intangibles, like leadership that we can’t even begin to measure!
True, Kobe AND Lebron have amazing intangibles that work both for and against them.
There are also some outside sources here that are involved. Nike and other marketers do an AMAZING job of creating a mystique for players. Of course they can’t market what isn’t already marketable but they turn greatness, into straight up legendary.
Really this is another area that is hard to sort out fact from whimsy. Leadership could be attributed to Lebron (not my opinion) for winning Gold in the Olympics, whereas Kobe as leader could not get it done.
The association and attribution of “intangibles” and “leadership” is very hard to concretely decide. There are good arguments for both here, however it’s just too loosey-goosey to base anything defendable.
But wait, Lebron might domninate normally BUT Kobe is the king of clutch!
This is just wrong, and we can prove it in nearly undisputable terms.

all fans, true basketball fans, know that with the game on the line, stats go out the window. that in the playoffs, stats go out the window. kobe wins in the playoffs and with the game on the line. lebron doesn’t. you can make your graphics bigger if you want, kobe’s a winner and lebron just does not have that killer instinct.
you want to leave out the championship debate. fine. do you think jordan would be considered the best ever without winning all those championships? you think people would know about bill russel if he hadnt won all those championships? if championships and winning doesnt matter then what is this debate about? why do you think lebron is out there? to pump his stats or to win it all? until lebron wins WHEN IT MATTERS and shows that its bryant over james any day.
so simple:
LeBron——> the best player ever (1)
Kobe——–> not the best player ever (2)
(1),(2)—–> LeBron > Kobe
Test
kobe won the MVP award after about 10 years but what about lebron? I’m sure he’s winnig it again this year……
I admit that lebron wasn’t a good shooter before, but he is really amazing now! just look at the facial three pointers he makes….
he’s becoming the best player ever!
Just getting really excited to watch the NBA Finals this week and was looking forward to seeing the two best teams and the two best players in the league go at it. Except one isn’t there anymore despite the best record this year (and last year). LeBron is great overall but Kobe Bryant at this point maybe the 3rd best player of all time (Behind MJ and Wilt -the dude averaged 50 points a game one year and once had 55 REBOUNDS in a game – come on that is crazy. Admittedly they were all short arse players back then but still!).
If the Lakers win this giving Kobe 5 rings than that to me makes him the 3rd best player of all time. LeBron might get there but until he has multiple rings he isn’t there yet.
Also Jacob I agree 100% with you about the Nike Kobe’s. They ar AWESOME to play in. Best I have ever owned.
