Eric Cressey Interview and Other Updates
Hello everybody this is Jacob Hiller. I just want to let you know that I recently did an interview with Eric Cressey. If you have not heard of Eric Cressey you probably will or if you go ahead and search his name online you will see that there’s a lot of good stuff out by Eric Cressey. He has a lot of great training methodologies. I ran into his training work when I was doing some research on instability, unstable surface training, which you can see in my other videos and some articles that we have on the site.
Anyways, Eric and I have talked about vertical jump training in depth, and about some of his approaches to athletic alignment and some of his other ideas for athletic assessments. I’ve used his new book which is called “Assess And Correct,” which is an excellent book whether you’re an athlete or a trainer looking for an easy way to assess and correct athletes athletic alignment, improve their performance, and reduce occurence of any injuries. It’s a great manual, and something I would recommend.
But anyways, Eric Cressey and I did get on the phone and we talked for about thirty minutes and I have it recorded and I just dug into some of the stuff that would be really in his field of expertise. This time, the video is not going to be on you tube, because they can only be 10 minutes, and the interview is about thirty minutes long, a little less than thirty minutes. So, what I’ve done is I’ve made a complete audio. So you can download it and put it on your ipod or you can listen to it on the site. I’m going to start putting the interviews in a downloadable format– that way you can just put them into your Ipod or however you like to listen to interviews. Listen to it while you’re at the gym, or while you’re driving or whatever you want to do.
So anyways we have some other interviews lined up for this year and I hope to get some really good information to you in 2010. We do have updates coming for the Jump Manual, and we are working on a training device, which I can’t tell you much about but I’m really, really excited about it. Right now there’s of course a manageable amount of guesswork done in a perfect training regime. We’re always trying to do more and more to eliminate the guesswork done when you’re training an athlete.
You know, some trainers claim that there is zero guesswork in their training methodologies but that’s not entirely true when you’re looking at everything they’re doing. So anyways, we’re looking at some new technologies and providing a device that really would take the guesswork out of your training. Take the guesswork out of how intense you were training, about how much effort you were putting into each repetition, and more things like that.
So I’m very excited about that. At this point I can’t tell you all about it until we understand – well it’s just a new technology that it’s not yet out so we cannot – We’ll see how it goes. The more I can tell you about it the more I will tell you about it. I’m excited to get that out. So, lots of stuff on the horizon.
If there’s something you would like to hear about, please comment below, send me an email, go to our site for the frequently asked questions and ask it there, and we’ll try and get it to you. Hope you guys are having a good year.
